    The Economist - Jo Alexandre

    Syndication and Licensing Director at The Economist Group

     

    Joanna Alexandre is Syndication and Licensing Director at The Economist Group since November 2013. Her current role focuses primarily on syndication of content from The Economist around the world as well as licensing of annual The World In publication and the bi-monthly culture and style magazine 1843.

     

    Before this, Joanna worked for seven years at BBC Magazines, latterly Immediate Media. Here her role was more licensing focused, looking after the international community of BBC Top Gear, BBC Good Food and Lonely Planet Traveller licenses.

     

    Having worked in syndication, licensing and content distribution for nearly ten years, she is enjoying the recent explosion of different platforms for content and the opportunities and complexities that they present.

     

    Joanna lives in South London with her husband and son, and spends slightly too much time at the London Transport Museum.

    State Secretary - Mr Lefteris Kretsos

    Minister of Information and Communication

    Dr Lefteris Kretsos is the General Secretary for Media and Communication (from March 2015 onwards), as well as the General Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media (from December 2016 onwards).

    He holds a PhD in Employee Relations and has an extensive research and teaching experience in the UK. He has participated in several European research projects and other academic and policy consultancy activities concerning employee relations, social rights, inequality etc. Marketization and Inequality, Labour Markets and Economic Crisis in Southern Europe, Young Workers and Trade Unions are among his areas of expertise.

    Earlier in his career he worked for the Greek Trade Union Congress and the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, in Dublin, as national correspondent for Greece.

    He co-edited two books and has authored more than 30 articles in peer reviewed journals, conferences and book chapters.

    Robert holds a BA from HEC Management School in France and an MBA from the Harvard Business School, USA.

    EPC - Angela Mills Wade

    Executive Director- European Publishers' Council

    Angela has been one of the leading players in the promotion of publishers rights in Europe.

     

    Since 1991 Angela Mills Wade has been the Executive Director of the European Publishers' Council (EPC), a high level lobby group of Chairmen and Chief Executives of major European media corporations whose business interests include newspapers, magazines, journals, books, database and internet publishing as well as in many cases television and radio broadcasting.

     

    Angela currently holds a number of industry appointments including Chairman of the UK's Publishers Content Forum, Joint Chair (with the British Library) of the Joint Committee on Legal Deposit and Board member of the European Advertising Standards Alliance. She is a Director and Chairman of Europe Analytica, an independent consultancy company based in Brussels and a board director of the Copyright Hub Foundation and member of the Advisory Board to Reporters without Borders (UK)

    INNEWS - Ms. MaryLou Tzempelikou

    PR & Communications manager

    MaryLou is a former online journalist and a current social media fan. She has combined her previous experience in journalism and love for the news & social media, and for the last years she has been working in the media monitoring field. She holds an MA degree in ‘Intercultural Communication with International Business’ from the University of Surrey.

    Jerry Ward has been working in the media intelligence industry since 1989. Founder and MD of Press Data from 1991, Jerry has established the company as one of the leading providers of full service monitoring and insight in the UK over the past two decades. A director of the UK Media Monitoring Association from 2004 and a director of AMEC from 2008, Jerry has been closely involved with publisher relationships and rights management for over 15 years, representing UK and International MMOs interests.

    PDLN aims to protect and promote the interest of publishers in media monitoring services. Its members seek to encourage the development of simple, efficient market solutions to the supply and use of press information internationally. PDLN works to share best practice in licensing and supply and to create forums for content owners and users to come together to solve the challenges of improving these services. The Press Database and Licensing Network (PDLN) is an association representing organisations owned or controlled by publishers who license or supply newspaper, magazine and website material for media monitoring, press cutting and press review services. PDLN was founded in 2008 and has grown rapidly. It now has 26 members in 23 countries.

    Our venue is the Benaki Museum, where we will have sole use of the venue and a guided tour. We will eat under the stars.

    FIBEP vice president Sophia Karakeva and AMEC board member Jerry Ward presents trends in media monitoring and evaluation markets and how these are likely to affect media monitoring and evaluation services and the PDLN members. The move from monitoring to evaluation and data analysis will impact all market players, but how, and how quickly?

    The PDLN Conference is an invitation only event. All PDLN members are welcome and MMOs, publishers are other parties active in the media monitoring business may also apply. Non members can attend the social events on Sunday and the conference from mid afternoon on the Monday. The conference fees are e300.
